In this project ‘Drip-Drop-Lets…(2025)’, Min sought to utilize water as a medium to embody the balance between the energy of objects and space within a single sculptural form. In East Asian art, the “space” referred to as ‘empty space’ gathers, harmonizes, and releases the intense energy of objects such as mountain forms or rocks. The energies of objects and space must not overpower one another but instead achieve harmony and maintain a mutually complementary relationship.
Water can be both an object and a space. Starting as a puddle, which can be seen as a space, water organically rises upward, transforming into droplets that acquire objectness. In this process, water transforms from a point to a line, gathers somewhere to become another space, and leaves traces that are absorbed into the space. Eventually, when the droplets return to the puddle, they evaporate into mist, becoming ‘empty space’. Through this repetitive cycle, the work interprets the harmony between objects and space, and their complementary relationship.
