About the Gecko
This work begins with the abnormal behavior of the gecko I am raising. At some point, the gecko began to reject crickets, the main food of geckos. I have interpreted this behavior as rejecting its own nature. Considering that rejecting nature is a habit that only humans have, I thought I could project a human-like image to the gecko I raise.
Assuming that this gecko is a human being, receiving food while being trapped in a cage becomes the rule equivalent to that of human society, and the act of going out of the cage without eating food will be an act of violation against the law.
Being Out of Discipline
Humans live in a discipline that suppresses their nature. However, almost everyone has a desire to break that discipline and think disobeying it will give them a strong sense of pleasure. Also, some immature people think the act of breaking discipline and seeking freedom is approval. But the responsibility for being out of discipline is enormous and worse case, are thrown back into it stigmatized. Therefore, the concept of freedom outside of discipline cannot exist in humans.
Contents of the Video
The video begins with a gecko supplied with crickets in a cage. The gecko does not eat the crickets in front of it and goes out of the cage and dreams of a life as a human being. Humans from outside the cage come to be very appealing to the gecko, moving himself among human space. Here, the gecko represents humans, and crickets and the cage represents discipline. The human form that the gecko pursues is a state of disorder, which is, out of discipline. In such a space of disorder, which is a human space, the gecko achieves three desires; appetite, sexual desire, and sleep. Whenever a gecko takes a desire, it loses its color, finding himself more appealing and therefore searching for more desires. After being satisfied with last desire, he sees himself with his tail cut off and the video ends as the gecko returns to its original cage.
